Florian Defrancesco advises Austrian and international companies at the intersection of law and technology: from AI compliance and data protection to enforcement before courts and authorities.
His practice focuses on

A key focus of his practice is AI law. He supports both users and developers of AI systems in implementing the AI Act, designs AI governance structures and internal AI policies, and trains staff through AI literacy programmes. Data protection and liability issues relating to AI are as much a part of his practice as advice on the Data Act, NIS2 and other EU digital legislation.
In data protection law, he handles compliance projects, international data transfers and data breaches. He represents clients before the Austrian Data Protection Authority, the Federal Administrative Court and the civil courts, up to Austria's highest courts, in particular in defending against complaints, regulatory fines and damages claims. He advises on unfair competition, trademark and copyright law as well as on IT and e-commerce contracts, and leads the data protection, IP/IT, commercial and AI workstreams in M&A transactions.
He regularly shares his expertise as a lecturer for the BFI (including the "KI-Führerschein" AI licence course, 2026, and the "KI-Beauftragter" AI officer programme, 2025) and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKO; "KI-Compliance kompakt", 2026), as a speaker and roundtable chair, and through the Binder Grösswang Law Blog.
Florian Defrancesco has been with Binder Grösswang since 2021 and advises clients throughout Austria and internationally from the firm's Innsbruck office. He studied law at the University of Innsbruck (Mag. iur., 2021) and business administration at MCI Innsbruck (BA, 2017), including a semester abroad at Kyung Hee University in Seoul. His technical understanding is rooted in his training at a higher technical college (HTL) for electrical engineering.
