Binder Grösswang Advises Ardian on Sale of Gantner Electronic Austria Holding GmbH
Binder Grösswang, in cooperation with Willkie Farr & Gallagher, advised the private equity investment company Ardian on the sale of Gantner Electronic Austria Holding GmbH. The Gantner group, based in Nüziders, Vorarlberg and specializing in electronic systems for access control, ticketing, and cashless payments, as well as intelligent locking solutions, was purchased by SALTO Systems S.L. The parties agreed to keep the transaction details confidential.
Binder Grösswang previously advised Ardian on the acquisition of the Gantner group in 2016. In the course of its international expansion since then, Gantner increased its market share, above all in the US, Great Britain and the Benelux countries. In addition, Gantner expanded its product portfolio through the acquisition of Syx Automations in 2017 and Contidata in June of 2020, thereby doubling its turnover as compared to 2015 and increasing the number of its employees from 200 to 450.

The signing and closing of the transaction took place on 15 October 2020 at the Binder Grösswang premises in Vienna. The core Binder Grösswang team comprised Thomas Schirmer (partner), Moritz Salzgeber (attorney at law) and Hermann Beurle (associate), all corporate/M&A specialists. Also involved in the transaction were Christian Wimpissinger (partner) and Clemens Willvonseder (attorney at law) for tax law aspects, Christian Zwick (partner) and Felix Fuith (associate), on corporate/M&A issues, Michael Horak (counsel) and Philipp Spring (attorney at law) for IP/IT matters, as well as the litigation specialists Ingeborg Edel (partner) and Anna Förstel (attorney at law).
