Binder Grösswang gains Experienced IP Counsel for Intellectual Property Team
As of 1 June 2019, Michael Horak (42) will be joining Binder Grösswang’s Vienna IP-IT team as a counsel. Highly recognized internationally as one of the leading attorneys specializing in the field of intellectual property law, Michael Horak will become part of the successful, award-winning intellectual property and information technology team led by Binder Grösswang partner Ivo Rungg.

Including Horak, the IP-IT team will count a total of ten lawyers, including one partner, two counsels, two attorneys, three associates and two research associates.
Experience and Know-How
Michael Horak has many years of experience specializing in patent, trademark and unfair competition law. As a partner in Salomonowitz Horak, a law firm specializing in intellectual property law that he co-founded with Sascha Salomonowitz in 2011, Horak represented renowned clients from all business sectors.

Michael Horak began his career in 2000 as a university assistant at the University of Salzburg’s Department of Criminal Law, and subsequently transferred to the University of Münster. After completing his year of clerkship at the Salzburg Regional Court, he worked as an associate at Fiebinger, Polak, Leon & Partner before joining Schönherr Rechtsanwälte in 2005. From 2007, he was part of the latter firm’s intellectual property team as an attorney at law.
Horak studied law at the University of Salzburg and La Rochelle University (France). He obtained his doctorate in law at the Universities of Salzburg and Münster in 2001 and graduated from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LL.M.) with distinction in 2003.
Michael Horak is the author of numerous publications on current issues in the fields of unfair competition, market law and IT law, and is in demand as a speaker at conferences and symposia.
